MANILA, Philippines — A 56-year-old stroke survivor died while four others were injured in a fire that razed a residential area in Valenzuela City yesterday morning.
Rolando Angote, reported to have suffered a stroke recently, was trapped in his house at the height of the fire at around 6:05 a.m., according to Valenzuela police chief Senior Superintendent David Nicolas Poklay.
The fire, which started at the house of Elvira Cunanan on Molina Street, reached second alarm before it was put out at around 7:58 a.m.
Jay Muera, Elvira Ladore, Wilfredo Escota and Teresita Dolina were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire. They pegged the fire damage at around P340,000.
