2 foreigners held by Immigration for illegal entry
MANILA, Philippines — Two foreigners were intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last month as they attempted to enter Canada illegally, according to a report by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
Sri Lankan Kabilan Kannathashan, 25, and Ghana citizen Emmanuel Kyeremateng, 26, were caught using tampered passports to leave for Canada, BI office-in-charge deputy commissioner Marc Red Mariñas said.
“There can be no doubt that the trips of these two aliens were facilitated by the same international syndicate that has been attempting to use Manila as a jump-off point to smuggle illegal aliens,” he said.
The two aliens both had approved electronic travel authorization for their trip, which were apparently acquired through fraud and misrepresentation, he said.
