Drug suspect slain

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – An alleged drug trafficker was shot dead by motorcycle-riding men in San Ildefonso, Bulacan on Saturday afternoon.

Fernando Organista, 51, was on his way home on a motorcycle when the assailants shot him in Barangay Pala-Pala at around 4 p.m.

Organista died at the scene from several gunshot wounds.

The assailants could have been tailing the victim, who was on the drug list of the municipal police, according to provincial police acting director Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat.

Meanwhile, in La Union, authorities seized at least 17 kilos of dried marijuana leaves with an estimated street value of P2 million in Santol town over the weekend.

The marijuana was contained in a jute sack found abandoned near a river in Barangay Tubaday by a fisherman who was not identified, according to town police chief Senior Inspector Antonio Arce Marzan Jr.

Barangay captain Pulmano Agadang informed the police, who immediately sent officers to check the report. The sack was found hidden under several pieces of cellophane and grass.
