SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Philippines – Motorists using the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) can expect seamless and convenient travel during the Holy Week when the integration of the two expressways is finished.

Marlene Ochoa, vice president for corporate communication of the Manila North Tollways Corp. (MNTC), said the integration would reduce toll collection from five to two and four to two from Balintawak and Subic and Balintawak and Tarlac, respectively.

Ochoa said the project cost of P650 million is expected to reach P1.5 billion with the improvement of facilities along the expressways.

Glen Campos, assistant vice president for technology operation management of MNTC, said fewer toll plazas would ensure faster travel.

Campos said additional toll plazas would be put up at NLEX Dau and Sta. Ines and Mabiga SCTEX. He said a new toll plaza would also be constructed at SCTEX Tarlac.

He said the integration would also involve the dismantling of the toll barriers at NLEX Dau and SCTEX Mabalacat in Pampanga and La, Paz in Tarlac.
