Ex-Tawi-Tawi governor indicted over SALN

MANILA, Philippines - The Office of the Ombudsman yesterday ordered the filing of charges against former Tawi-Tawi governor Sadikul Sahali for failing to properly file his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) for five years.

In an order signed by Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales, Sahali was charged with six counts of violating the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for public officials.

The anti-graft investigators found out that Sahali’s SALNs from 2007 to 2011 were not notarized, while the 2012 SALN did not bear his signature.

The ombudsman said the SALNs were filed late.
