Killer of Cherry Pie Picache’s mother convicted

MANILA, Philippines  —  The Quezon City Regional Trial Court on Thursday found the main suspect in the killing of the mother of actress Cherry Pie Pichache guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment more than a year after her death.

Michael Flores, the primary suspect in the killing of Picache’s mother, Zenaida Sison will serve a prison term of 20 years and a day to 40 years after he was convicted by the court for robbery with homicide and not murder.

The 29-year-old Flores was a helper of Sison. He earlier pleaded guilty during his arraignment on Oct. 23, 2014.

The accused was nabbed outside a subdivision in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on October 7 last year.

Sison, 75, was stabbed to death inside her home on Sept. 19, 2014.

The suspect allegedly took cash and P500,000 worth of jewelry. — reports from Robertzon Ramirez
