Magnitude 3.5 quake jolts Bohol

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Thursday morning recorded a magnitude 3.5 earthquake that jolted Bohol.

The the epicenter of the quake that occurred around 10:20 a.m. was traced 25 kilometers northwest of Tagbilaran City, Bohol. It has shallow depth of focus of 13 kilometers.

Phivolcs said the tremor was felt at Intensity 3 in Tagbilaran City; Loon and Maribojoc, Bohol and Argao Cebu while Dalaguete, Cebu experienced it at Intensity 2.

There are no reported casualties or damages. There are also no aftershocks expected.

Five other mild earthquakes were also recorded early Thursday.

The first quake of magnitude 2 was detected at 2:04 a.m. in Paluan, Occidental Mindoro followed by another of 3.5-magnitude around 4:37 a.m. in Argao, Cebu.

A magnitude 3 quake was recorded at 5:52 a.m. in Lupao, Nueva Ecija while another of magnitude 2 hit Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro at 6:17 a.m.

A fifth earthquake of magnitude 3.3 occurred at 7:50 a.m. in Palanan, Isabela.

The agency noted that all earthquakes were tectonic in origin.
