MANILA, Philippines - Sen. JV Ejercito has recently donated 24 high-powered firearms to San Juan City Police to further boost the local government’s anti-criminality drive.
Ejercito, a former mayor of San Juan, donated the Galil assault rifles to the local police’s mobile patrol units and Tavor rifles for members of the Special Weapon and Tactics.
Last Tuesday, Ejercito and her mother, San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez, last Tuesday personally turned over the high-powered firearms to the city police .
"One of the seven programs of governance that I am implementing is 'katahimikan' program. This is to ensure the safety and peace and order in the city of San Juan," Gomez said.
"With these rifles, we are hoping that we would be able to maintain the low crime rate in the city. I also trust that the San Juan City Police shall continue to carry on the responsibility that goes with owning such high-powered firearms," she said.
