Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines  – An eight-year-old boy died while 16 others were injured when a truck loaded with logs slammed into a house in Jones, Isabela Sunday.

Randolph Inieva was pinned under the truck driven by Augustus Regatis, according to Chief Inspector Benjamin Agcaoili.

Aside from the logs, the truck had 30 passengers.

Agcaoili said the truck developed engine trouble as he was driving down the road in Barangay Sta. Isabel.

He lost control of the wheel, causing the truck to hit Inieva’s house.

The wounded passengers were rushed to different hospitals in Jones and Santiago City for treatment.

The passengers were residents of remote villages who hitch a ride in the truck every Sunday to go to the public market in the town proper.
