4 arrested in Batangas over poll gun ban

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Four persons, including a businessman, were arrested in Batangas yesterday for violating the election gun ban.

Roldan Gasmen, Al Vargas, Jeorge de Torre and Avelino Castillo were charged for violating the Election Code before the provincial prosecutor’s office, said Batangas police director Senior Superintendent Jireh Omega Fidel.

The suspects were collared at checkpoints in Barangays Antipolo del Norte and Cuta in Lipa City and Batangas City, respectively, at 12:30 p.m.

The gun ban started yesterday in connection with the Sangguniang Kabataan elections in February. It will end on March 8.
