MANILA, Philippines - A rookie policeman was wounded after reportedly being hit by a stray bullet in Quezon City a day before New Year's Eve.
Police Officer 1 Puut Piya, 36, assigned at the Regional Police Holding and Accounting Unit, was rushed to the FEU Hospital after being hit on the left foot by a bullet.
Initial investigation showed that Piya, along with another rookie police officer only identified as Police Officer 1 Potoy were on their way home on board a motorcycle along Litex Road, Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City last Dec. 30 around 1:30 a.m. when they suddenly fell on the ground.
The two policemen heard a volley of gunfire coming from behind and after the gunshots, Piya noticed that his foot was bleeding.
Police are still looking into the incident.
