Alleged brains in Cavite teens’ slay surrender
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Two principal suspects in the killing of two teenagers in Cavite last month have surrendered, police said yesterday.
Augusto Lising Sr. and his 13-year-old granddaughter gave themselves up to Gov. Jonvic Remulla at the provincial capitol on Tuesday, said Senior Superintendent Joselito Esquivel, Cavite police director.
Lising and his granddaughter denied killing Karren Aguirre, 16, and Renald dela Cruz, 14, who were found in Barangay San Antonio 1 in Noveleta last Aug. 24.
Aguirre and Dela Cruz were reported missing last Aug. 14.
Esquivel said Aguirre was last seen at the wake of Augusto Lising Jr., who was killed in an encounter with police officers in Barangay Salcedo 2, also in Noveleta, last July 31.
Probers are eyeing revenge as the motive for the killing.
Esquivel said the suspects believed the victims pointed to the police officers where Lising Jr. was hiding.
The younger Lising was reportedly Noveleta’s most wanted person.
Police have yet to arrest the other suspects identified as Lino Bartolo, Julius Doe, Joe Vargas, Bernie Abales and Leydel Lising.
Esquivel said three of the five suspects yesterday sent surrender feelers.
