Court guard selling stolen guns from evidence room in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines - Authorities arrested on Friday a security guard assigned with the Quezon City Office of the Executive Judge Hall of Justice for stealing firearms from the evidence room.
Director Benjamin Magalong, head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, said Jic Florentino was nabbed in a sting operation at the Philcoa overpass, Diliman in Commonwealth Avenue.
Florentino's arrest came after police received an information that the suspect is selling firearms stolen from the evidence room of the Hall of Justice.
Magalong said the suspect was caught while selling to a poseur buyer a customized .45 pistol Remington Rand with court evidence markings "FAT-1", and a holster with another court evidence markings "CC-02509355 People of the Philippines vs. Anonuevo."
Two pieces of magazine and 50 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition, and the marked money used in the entrapment were also seized from Florentino.
Magalong added the suspect tried to elude arrest while aboard his motorcycle but the pursuing detectives were able to collar him.
