MANILA, Philippines - Security forces have arrested one of the suspected members of a kidnap for ransom gang operating in Lanao del Norte and nearby provinces, police said on Friday.
Police identified the suspect as Tingaraan Pamosoga, of Barangay Gamal, Sapad town in Lanao del Norte. He is believed to be a member of the Macari kidnap for ransom group.
Chief Superintendent Juanito Vano Jr., Police Regional Office 10 director, said Pamosoga is tagged as the 4th most wanted person in municipal level.
The fugitive was nabbed on Thursday during the serving of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Jacob Malik of Regional Trial Court 12the Judicial Region, Branch 21, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.
Authorities said that the Macari group, headed by Nasser Macari, is responsible for the kidnapping of businessmen and extorting private construction companies, whose heavy equipment were burned when they refuse to give in.
vano said the group is also involved in gun-for-hire operations.
