MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Tuesday said it will issue a preventive suspension order against two bus firms whose units were involved in separate accidents in Camarines Sur and Olongapo City.
In a text advisory, the Board said it will release 30-day suspension orders against the Bragais bus firm and the Victory Liner bus company.
With the order, a total of 19 units of Bragais bus and Victory's 42 buses covered by their respective Certificate of Public Convenience will be grounded pending the investigation by the Board.
Last week, a Catanduanes-bound Bragais Liner bus coming from Manila rammed a stalled 10-wheeler truck along the national highway in Libmanan, Camarines Sur. Five people were killed while 15 others were injured during the road mishap.
Meanwhile, a Victory Liner bus fell into a shallow ravine on Monday afternoon after it tried to evade an elderly woman in Olongapo City.
However, the bus still hit and killed the woman before falling on its side as it plunged into the ravine. Around 40 passengers were hurt.
