MANILA, Philippines - The death toll from tropical depression "Agaton" has risen to 64, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.
Three new fatalities were recorded in Agusan del Sur in the Caraga region.
They were identified as Dominique Hatico, 12, who was hit by a falling tree; Isagani Pedillo, 42, who got buried in a landslide and Remat Tana, 12, who died of drowning.
The NDRRMC said the bad weather also left 85 persons injured and 10 others missing.
More than 1.148 million persons or 244,344 families have been affected in 1,002 barangays in Northern Mindanao, Davao, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Of the affected residents, 22,095 families or 108,991 individuals were displaced and are now inside 235 evacuation centers.
The NDRRMC said "Agaton" has damaged almost P510 million worth of infrastructure and agricultural products and 2,864 houses. It also damaged irrigation dams in Aragon and Barangay Taytayan in Cateel, Davao Oriental.
More than P78.3 million worth of relief goods have been distributed to affected families by the national and local governments and private donors.
