CALAMBA CITY, Philippines – A barangay councilman was seriously wounded when one of three men shot him in front of his residence in Barangay Uno in this Laguna city last Wednesday night, police said.
The victim, Jose Ricomedez, 44, a councilman of Barangay Uno, was talking to two neighbors when he was gunned down at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Ricomedez, who won in the barangay polls last Oct. 28, sustained gunshot wounds in the abdomen and another part of the body.
Superintendent Marvin Saro, city police chief, said one suspect, identified as Dindo Fajardo, was arrested in a hot pursuit operation in Cabuyao town.
Two witnesses tagged Fajardo as the alleged triggerman.
The assailants’ getaway car, a Nissan van owned by Fajardo’s wife, was recovered at a terminal in Barangay Banlic, Cabuyao the following day.
Police are readying charges of frustrated murder against Fajardo while his two accomplices are being hunted.
