MANILA, Philippines - The former maid of businesswoman Janet Napoles, the alleged brain behind the P10 billion pork barrel scam, was ordered to be released on Friday from her detention cell by a Makati City court.
A radio report said the Makati City Regional Trial Court branch 145 where qualified theft case against Dominga Cadelina was heard cleared Napoles' former employee of the charges.
Cadelina, after being freed from jail, had no ill-feelings against the Napoleses, the report added.
Cadelina, who has been detained for several months at the Makati City jail, was accused of stealing expensive underwear and jackets by her former employer.
When she quit her job, the Napoleses reportedly gave her clothes worth P200,000, including jackets and underwear, as some sort of a farewell gift.
Janet was temporarily transferred from Camp Crame and detained at the Makati City jail but excluded from the detention facility's 103 female detainees that included Cadelina.
The Napoles matriarch, however, was allowed by the court to be transferred to a police camp in Sta. Rosa, Laguna for security reasons.
Janet is facing serious illegal detention filed by her cousin, Benhur Luy, one of the key witnesses in the plunder case filed by the Department of Justice against her and several lawmakers before the Office of the Ombudsman for the misuse of the priority development assistance fund.
