LUCENA CITY , Philippines – An environmental advocate has sounded the alarm over quarrying activities in the Sariaya part of Mt. Banahaw.
Hobart Dator Jr., president of the Save Mt. Banahaw Movement, said Quezon authorities should stop the wanton quarrying on Mt. Banahaw and investigate and prosecute the operators.
Four years ago, it was Dator who alerted authorities on a huge dent caused by erosion in the Lucban side of Mt. Banahaw due to illegal cutting of trees and treasure hunting.
