Bacolod call center suffers bankruptcy
BACOLOD CITY , Philippines – Thirty-one call center agents in this city lost their jobs after the company stopped operation due to bankruptcy.
The temporary closure of the Interface Techno-Phil was ordered by its main office in Makati City as it has no more clients to serve, according to Pinky Gamboa, the firm’s human resource associate.
Last Thursday, the employees filed complaints before the National Labor Relations Commission, claiming they have not received their salaries for a month now.
The complainants were among the 31 call center agents and team leaders of the Interface Techno-Phil Bacolod site, located at the Lopue’s East department store.
Some of the employees claimed the company did not remit their contributions to the SSS, Pag-IBIG and PhilHealth, although the amount was deducted from their salaries.
Gamboa said their main office has assured them that the employees would be paid, although she did not say when. She said the employees have been informed about the situation.
Last Friday, the Bacolod City Legal Office found out that the call center has been operating without a business permit since 2009.
