NPAs torch Masbate construction equipment

LEGAZPI CITY , Philippines   â€“ Eight suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels torched three pieces of construction equipment in San Fernando town, Masbate on Wednesday night, authorities said.

Superintendent Heriberto Olitoquit, Masbate police director, said armed men swooped down on the construction site in Barangay Buenavista, 10 kilometers away from the town proper, at around 7 p.m. Wednesday and set on fire a road roller, a grader and a loader reportedly owned by engineer Alejandro Lim Jr.

Last Aug. 22, suspected guerrillas also torched construction equipment in Pio Duran, Albay. – Celso Amo, Cet Dematera, Francis Elevado
