'Isang' out of Philippines Thursday morning - PAGASA

MANILA, Philippines - Tropical depression "Isang" may already be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday morning, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that as of 11 a.m., the storm's center was over the Calayan Island.

It was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour as it moves north northwest at a speed of 22 kph.

PAGASA said that the storm's estimated position by Thursday morning was 540 kilometers northwest of Aparri, Cagayan "or out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility."

Public storm warning signal No. 1 remains hoisted over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Cagayan inclding Calayan, Babuyan Group of Island and Batanes Group of Islands. Public storm warning signals raised over other areas in Northern Luzon have been lifted.

The weather bureau said the storm will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains and thunderstorms over Luzon, including Metro Manila, and Western Visayas.

Isang made two landfalls in Isabela and Cagayan provinces earlier. The first landfall was recorded in Estagno Point in Isabela at around 4 a.m. followed by another landfall in Lallo, Cagayan at around 5:10 a.m.

It was also expected to make one more landfall in Batanes province before it exits the Philippines.
