Vote-buying in Cavite probed

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Authorities are looking into reports that vote-buying is rampant in some parts of Cavite.

Senior Superintendent Alexander Rafael, Cavite police director, ordered his men to monitor and investigate the reported vote-buying activities not only in Silang, but also in the nearby towns.

“We will verify a report about the vote-buying activities taking place in a commercial compound along Aguinaldo Highway in Silang, Cavite,’ Rafael told The STAR.

The official said he ordered the 23 police chiefs to step up the campaign against some groups believed engaged in vote-buying activities.

Local journalists told The STAR that Cavite is one of the “hot spots” and vote-buying is widespread during the campaign period.
