MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude-4.8 earthquake struck areas in Bicol on Thursday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said that quake struck seven kilometers northeast of Uson, Masbate, at 9:41 p.m.
The tremor was felt at Intensity 4 in Masbate and Uson towns in Masbate and San Jacinto on Ticao Island, Intensity 3 in Irosin, Sorsogon and Intensity 2 in Legaspi City.
Phivolcs said that aftershocks were expected.
Another quake struck 120 kilometers northeast of Burgos in Surigao del Norte province at around 1:10 a.m. on Friday.
The quake was tectonic in origin and it struck at a depth of 43 kilometers, Phivolcs reported.
