MANILA, Philippines - Three employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were killed while four others were wounded by a passerby irritated by their vehicle’s lights in Mulanay, Quezon Friday night.
An ABS-CBN online report quoted Mulanay Mayor Joselito Ojeda as saying that the victims parked their vehicle near a neighborhood store in Barangay Pakiing to buy cigarettes without turning off the lights, annoying the passerby.
After confronting the victims, the passerby then drew out a gun and fired at them, the report said.
Police identified the fatalities as Ronald Monterey, 28; Jason Rodelas, 23; and Celso Red, 28; and those wounded as Zaldy Prado, 22; Leovino de Galicia, 44, Abraham Almero, 42; and Menardo Abella, 22, who were all rushed to the Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital.
Police found 14 empty shells from a .45-caliber pistol at the scene.Police have launched a manhunt for the gunman.
