CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – At least 290 Taiwanese nationals, among the 377 foreigners detained here on online fraud charges, will be deported in two batches this week.
The first batch of 145 Taiwanese will be deported on Wednesday, and the rest the following day, said Chief Superintendent James Melad, Calabarzon police director.
The first batch will include the six Taiwanese who had beaten up two policemen guarding them.
Melad said the immigration bureau is still working on the deportation of the 87 other suspects, mostly from mainland China.
The 377 foreigners were arrested in raids on 21 houses in Cavite, Quezon City and Antipolo City last month.
