PNP chief orders arrest of Bacolod cop's killers

Bacolod City ,Philippines  – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome has ordered the Police Regional Office 6 and the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to arrest the suspects behind the killing of a police drug operative in this city last Thursday.

Bartolome visited the wake of Police Officer 3 Rolando Malate at the Rolling Hills Memorial Chapels here Friday and gave his family financial support.

Malate, 43, a member of the BCPO City Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operations Task Group had brought his two children to the Bacolod Tay Tung High School and was on his way to a coffee shop at the junction of Hernaez and Jovita streets, with his 10-year-old daughter when one of two men riding on a motorcycle shot him at close range while he was about to alight from his car.

He sustained four gunshot wounds on his chest, two on his neck and one on his right ear and died while being treated at the Bacolod Adventist Hospital, police records show.

 BCPO director Senior Superintendent Ricardo de la Paz has organized “Task Force Malate” to speed up the investigation and to solve the death of Malate.
