W. Mindanao workers get P12 wage increase
MANILA, Philippines - The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) yesterday announced that workers in Western Mindanao are getting a P12 increase in their daily take-home pay.
Starting Nov. 25, the NWPC said the P12 wage hike in the Zamboanga Peninsula and other provinces in Western Mindanao brings to P267 the daily minimum pay for non-agricultural workers, P222 for non-plantation agricultural workers, and P242 for those working in plantations.
The Western Mindanao wage board granted the increase motu propio or even without any petition from labor groups.
“A thorough evaluation of the region’s political, socio-economic and labor market indicators showed the need to adjust the minimum wage due to increases in the prices of basic goods and commodities,” the regional wage board said.
Like in previous wage orders, domestic and household helpers and those in the personal service of others and duly recognized workers of barangay micro business enterprises are not covered by the pay hike.
