SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines – Two men were seriously hurt in a shooting incident at SM Pampanga in Barangay Lagundi, Mexico town yesterday morning.
Senior Superintendent Edgar Tinio, Pampanga police provincial director, said initial reports showed that the shooting occurred around 11:45 a.m. when one of the victims , said to be 14 years old, shot his friend twice in the head before shooting himself.
He said initial reports showed that the shooting occured at the mall's Building 3.
Tinio said it is possible that a romantic spat led one of the victims to shoot his friend and attempt suicide.
Responding policemen found two spent shells of a .22 caliber gun from the crime scene. An alleged suicide note was found in the pocket of one of the victims.
The victims were rushed to San Fernandino Hospital in Barangay Dolores, San Fernando town, where they were said to be in critical condition.
Rain Cervantes, public relations officer of the mall could not immediately provide details on the incident. He said the situation inside the mall has normalized. – Ric Sapnu, Ding Cervantes
