Charges filed vs 4 LTO agents in Naga

- Michael Punongbayan -

MANILA, Philippines - The Office of the Ombudsman yesterday filed criminal cases against four deputized agents of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) who were caught extorting money from truck drivers in Naga City last month.

Charged with usurpation of authority and robbery with violence or intimidation of persons before the lower courts were Ronnie Sain Albis, Dionel Maccandog Agapor, Victor Aquino de los Santos, and Manolito Coronado Dimaano, all deputized agents of the LTO-Help Desk/Action Center and members of the Highway Patrol Group.

The LTO agents were arrested in an entrapment operation last Feb. 23, where they yielded four professional driver’s licenses, a logbook, a license plate, a white envelope containing P2,500 in suspected extortion money, and the P50 marked money used.
