LABUAN, Zamboanga City, Philippines – Barely four days after a kidnapped female nursing graduate was freed, a businesswoman was seized in a coastal village here Thursday, police said.
Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, city police chief, said the latest kidnap victim, Olivia Angeles Barredo, 37, who owns a hardware store and a pharmacy in Barangay Labuan, was snatched by three armed men and dragged into a waiting motorboat.
De Ocampo quoted witnesses as saying that the kidnappers fired shots as Barredo tried to resist.
The kidnappers have not yet contacted Barredo’s family.
Earlier, nursing graduate Marycris Cuartocruz, 21, was freed in Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.
