1 dead, 27 nabbed in 'shabu tiangge' raid

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna , Philippines   – One man drowned while 27 others were arrested in a raid on a “shabu tiangge” in Biñan, Laguna yesterday morning, police said.

Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad, Calabarzon police director, said one Jojo Pinedo drowned in Laguna de Bay where he swam to escape from the police team, which swooped down on 14 houses in the coastal barangay of Malaban that has become a haven of drug pushers and addicts.

Police seized 57 sachets of suspected shabu worth P30,000, 199 tea bags of dried marijuana worth P40,000, 46 video karera and fruit game machines with P12,000 in coins and bills, seven firearms, and five motorcycles. – Arnell Ozaeta, Ed Amoroso and Non Alquitran
