Immigration officials at Clark bar entry of Nigerian

-

MANILA, Philippines – Officials of the Bureau of Immigration assigned at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) blocked the entry of a Nigerian national after they discovered that he was allegedly using spurious travel documents.

In a statement, BI Commissioner Marcelino Libanan yesterday said that the Nigerian identified as Stephen Micah Ogbulu was escorted back to the same Air Asia plane flight that brought him to DMIA, so he could return to his country of origin, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

Ogbulu was reportedly caught with a tampered passport.

Clark airport is now one of the busy airports in the country as airlines are operating there service flights to various international destinations, mostly in the Asia-Pacific region.

BI officer Heranio Manalo told Libanan that their Clark personnel have also tightened their vigilance in preventing undocumented overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) disguised as tourists from leaving the country.

Manalo said that last year, a total of 2, 751 suspected “tourist” workers were offloaded at the DMIA for not having the required clearances from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). – Evelyn Macairan
