Delayed LTO plates? Check with car dealers

MANILA, Philippines — The delayed release of license plates to vehicle owners could be a distribution problem on the dealers’ end, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said yesterday.

“In some cases, dealers have received the license plates but did not inform the registered car owners that these were ready for release,” the LTO told ABS-CBN News.

“There are also cases where motorists are told that the dealer has not received their license plates, even though the LTO has already released the same,” the agency added.

The LTO said license plates are delivered to its central office in Quezon City before being sent out to regional offices, which distribute these to district offices.

The LTO district offices turn over the license plates to dealers’ representatives, who have to sign receipts, which will serve as proof that the plates have been turned over.

The LTO advised vehicle owners to coordinate with their dealer or the nearest LTO branch to check on the status of their license plates.
