LINGAYEN, Philippines – More than 2,500 jobseekers from all over Pangasinan flocked to the Pangasinan Job Fair 2009 held Friday at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center.
The event was organized by the provincial government in cooperation with the regional offices of the Department of Labor and Employment, the Technical and Skills Education Development Authority, the Philippine Overseas and Employment Administration, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration to help mitigate the country’s worsening unemployment problem.
It had for its theme “Aksyon trabaho para sa inyo mula kay Gov. Amado T. Espino Jr.”
The Provincial Employment Services Office under Alex Ferrer distributed leaflets to apprise the jobseekers on the procedure of filing their applications.
The job fair promptly started at 8 a.m. with hundreds of job applicants armed with their respective resumés and other necessary documents already forming long queues.
Ferrer said the job fair was their first major employment-related event this year, offering over 2,000 job opportunities here and abroad.
The participating companies were looking for supervisors, secretaries, mechanics, stackers, drivers, helpers, housemaids, electronic technicians, bakers, chefs and numerous other positions.
