Camp vicente lim, laguna – Three persons, including a former town chieftain, were killed in separate ambush incidents in Calaca and Nasugbu, both in Batangas, respectively, police said.
Police identified the victims as Ireneo del Mundo, 56, his son Edwin, 33, both dead from multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.
Police said the two Del Mundos were on their way home aboard a motorcycle who just came from a nearby town when they were waylaid by two unidentified gunmen along Brias street, Barangay 11, in Nasugbu town, at around 6:30 p.m., Saturday evening.
According to police investigators, Del Mundos killers armed with .45 caliber pistol escaped on foot after shooting.
Probers said they are still investigating if the Del Mundo’s killing is related to their work as police assets.
In Calaca, a 54-year-old former barangay chairman was shot dead in front of his children when they were ambushed by still unidentified gunmen while driving a school service vehicle in Calaca, Batangas Monday morning, police said.
Chief Inspector Gerson Bisayas, Calaca police chief identified the victim as Nicasio Bitang, a resident and a former chairman of Barangay Matipoc in Calaca town.
According to report, Bitang was driving his Mitsubishi Canter (DRU-184) school service vehicle to send students at the Dacanlao National High School when he was waylaid by two armed men aboard a motorcycle along the National Highway in Barangay Dacanlao around 6 a.m.
Bitang was rushed to Madonna General Hospital in Balayan town for treatment but later died due to multiple gunshot wounds in his head and body from a .45 caliber pistol.
After the shooting, the suspects fled toward unknown direction.
Fortunately, no students were hurt, including Bitang’s children Mary Grace,16 and Jhunel, 12 who were both seating near their father inside the school service when the shooting happened.
Police have yet to determine the motive of the killing.
