Southern Mindanao cops join manhunt for Bedol

DAVAO CITY – Police authorities in Southern Mindanao have also been on the lookout for former Maguindanao election supervisor Lintang Bedol after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) ordered his immediate arrest for an indirect contempt case earlier filed against him.

“We have also been looking for him in places where he might be here in the region,” Region 11 police director Chief Superintendent Andres Caro II said.

Chief Superintendent Joel Goltiao, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) police director, has formed a task force to look for Bedol, who has gone missing after the Comelec found him guilty of indirect contempt in connection with its investigation into the alleged massive election fraud and cheating in Maguindanao in the May 14 elections.

Bedol was last arrested on July 2 in a hospital here where he was seeking treatment for an eye ailment.

Police have also reportedly been looking for Bedol in hospitals and other areas he has reportedly been frequenting in this city.

Acting Comelec chairman Resurreccion Borra has ordered that Bedol be immediately detained at the Metro Manila district jail at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City upon his arrest.
