Former socioeconomic chief Romulo Neri denied Wednesday that he had been transferred from the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) because of the controversial National Broadband Network.
Speaking before the Senate hearing, Neri said he was not transferred to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) because he had objected to the government's deal with the Chinese firm ZTE Corp.
Likewise, Neri said he had favored the NBN project because of its high economic return.
However, he also said he supported Jose de Venecia III's rival proposal because it would competition.
