PNP seizes illegal drugs worth P3.6 M
The Philippine National Police (PNP) scored significantly in its anti-narcotics campaign with the seizure of P3.6 million worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of 181 suspects from July 14 to 20.
Director Wilfredo Garcia, in his monthly report to Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Calderon, said 25.34 grams of shabu, more than five kilos of dried marijuana leaves and more than 2,000 marijuana seedlings and plants were confiscated during the period.
Garcia said 119 cases have been filed against the suspects in various courts nationwide.
Meanwhile, Garcia said the campaign against wanted persons and loose firearms resulted in the arrest of 99 suspects during the same period.
Among those arrested was Dionisio de Guzman, 48, the most wanted person in Ilocos Sur who had a P140,000 prize on his head and several arrest warrants for various crimes.
Garcia said the drive netted 19 high-powered and six low-powered firearms in various operations nationwide, resulting in the arrest of 32 violators and the filing of 14 cases against them.
On illegal gambling, Garcia said 58 people were arrested during the period and 27 cases were filed against them.
Police also nabbed three carjacking suspects and recovered 12 stolen vehicles and five motorcycles, he said.
“These operations prove that the PNP is unrelenting in its anti-crime drive and that it is committed to pursue criminals even in the farthest area of the country,” Garcia said.
