US Embassy seeks update on Tarlac slay

TARLAC CITY — The US Embassy in Manila has asked the city police for an update on their investigation into the March 29 killing of the wife of a retired US Navy serviceman.

Embassy vice consul Kimberly Harrington requested for a "status report" on the police investigation into the murder of Maritess de Leon-Applegate, saying her husband, Michael, also demanded this to bring justice to his wife’s death.

The US Embassy also furnished copies of its letter to Chief Superintendent Vidal Querol and Senior Superintendent Angelo Sunglao, regional and provincial police directors, respectively.

De Leon-Applegate was shot dead in one of the KTV rooms of Copperchino Restaurant, which her sister Cristina owns.

When she was gunned down, the victim was arguing with her former boyfriend, Vic Angeles, a known contractor in the province.

Police have identified the suspects as Joebert Licono and Oliver Millo. Although murder charges have been filed against them, they are still at large.
