The faces of city officials will be on the paperbound cover of notebooks much like the photos of movie stars, cartoon characters and super heroes.
Mayor Tomas Osmeña thought of the cover photos in order for children to be familiar with their city officials.
"They dont know how their officials look like. I think its good for them to know how their officials look like," he said.
As part of its education program, the city is subsidizing school supplies, including notebooks, for pupils of public elementary schools.
But instead of putting City Hall on the covers of notebooks, the mayor wants the pictures of city officials on them.
"Anyway grade school (students) are not choosy," Osmeña said, adding that to save on cost, the pictures will be in black and white.
Some P5 million has been allotted for the notebooks. But the purchase and release of the notebooks have been stalled due to a failed bidding last July 7.
The city government is also subsidizing the voluntary contributions of students at P50 per student, including those for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Freeman News Service
