Abducted b’gay head found dead

-
LEGAZPI CITY — Police found this week the decomposing remains of a barangay chairman who was abducted by suspected New People’s Army guerrillas last March 27.

Inspector Joventino Rosales said the body of Nestor Broqueza, chairman of Barangay Banga, was found in a coconut plantation.

Rosales said Broqueza’s wife, Elizabeth, reported to the police that at least 15 rebels snatched her husband at about 10 p.m. on March 27.

Meanwhile, armed goons ransacked the house of a barangay chairman in Masbate City last Tuesday night.

Senior Superintendent Roque Ramirez, the newly assigned police director of Masbate, said the armed men who identified themselves as Army soldiers forcible entered the house of Adelino Andaya, head of Barangay Bayombong.

Once inside, they destroyed the padlock of the bedroom and took P1,500 cash from a drawer. They also ransacked the rooms of Andaya’s two children.

The armed men left two hours later on board a blue van. They did not hurt anyone. Andaya was not around during the incident. — Celso Amo
