Supporter of Lapid’s son slain

FLORIDABLANCA, Pampanga — A barangay chairman here known to be a supporter of Gov. Lito Lapid’s son Mark who is running for governor, was shot dead by ski mask-wearing men Tuesday night.

Chief Inspector Walter Castillejos, municipal police chief, said Felino Macatuno, 52, chairman of Barangay Calantas was driving his owner-type jeep when two motorcycle-riding men shot him.

Macatuno sustained four bullet wounds in the head.

Castillejos suspects that the gunslaying was politically motivated. But probers, he said, are not discounting the possibility that communist rebels could be behind it. — Ding Cervantes
