Dick Romulo declines PAGC post

Lawyer-businessman Ricardo "Dick" Romulo, president of the Makati Business Club, has sent word to President Arroyo declining her offer to become the gover’snment new anti-graft czar, Executive Secretary Alberto Romulo said yesterday,

Alberto Romulo said the President has thus asked her search committee to resume the screening for the potential replacement of Eufemio Domingo who resigned as chairman of the Presidential Anti-Graft Commission (PAGC).

Romulo said PAGC Commissioner Cesar Buenaflor will be the acting chairman of the three-man body until a new head is appointed.

Romulo said Dick Romulo declined to head the PAGC because, he said, he is already actively helping the Arroyo administration’s anti-graft campaign as a member, representing the private sector, of the Good Governance Council.

"We are still looking for possible candidates, perhaps a retired justice. We are checking who are available," Romulo said.

"At any rate, he (Dick Romulo) said we can find good ones to head the PAGC," he added. — Marichu Villanueva
