Laguna governor’s security men reduced

MANILA, Philippines — The number of police personnel assigned to protect and ensure the safety of Laguna Gov. Sol Aragones has been reduced, allegedly after a verbal directive from a top Philippine National Police official at Camp Crame.
The directive instructed the Laguna Provincial Police Office to submit the names of personnel assigned to the governor’s office, the security team and its chief.
Adiel de Torres, Aragones’ security chief, told The STAR in a phone interview that the number of security personnel was just reduced rather than completely withdrawn.
De Torres said the reduction could be politically motivated, citing a case of a former police general who ran for mayor in the province and had sought to become part of Aragones’ security team.
