PNP, bumuo ng tracker teams vs Barayuga killers

MANILA, Philippines — Bumuo na ng tracker teams ang Philippine National Police (PNP) para maihain ang arrest warrant na inilabas ng Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court laban sa iba pang mga akusado sa pamamaslang sa retired police general at PCSO board member na si Wesley Barayuga noong 2020. 

Ayon kay PNP ­Acting Chief PLtGen Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., ipatutupad ng PNP ang due process habang tinitiyak na mabilis na maise-serve ang arrest warrant. 

Lunes naman nang sumuko si  Lt. Col. Santie Fuentes Mendoza kasunod ng inilabas na warrant of arrest 

Inatasan din ni Nartatez ang Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) at iba pang concerned agencies na makipag-ugnayan sa regional police offices at intelligence divisions para bantayan ang kilos ng mga suspek at kaagad silang maaresto. 

Naglabas ang Mandaluyong RTC Branch 279 ng arrest warrants laban kina dating PCSO General Ma­nager Royina Garma, retired police colonel at former Napolcom commissio­ner Edilberto Leonardo, Lt. Col. Santie Mendoza, dismissed policeman Nelson Enriquez Mariano, at Jeremy Causapin para sa kasong murder.

Sa pagdinig ng Kamara noong nakaraang taon, inamin ni Mendoza na sina Garma at Leo­nardo ang nag-utos na patayin si Barayuga sa ilalim ng gawa-gawang anti-drug operation. Idinahilan nito na sumunod siya dahil sa takot.  

“The PNP has always maintained that the rule of law must prevail at all times. Regardless of one’s rank, status, or former position, all individuals are accountable under our justice system. The issuance of these warrants is a reminder that justice is not blind, and the PNP will carry out its mandate without fear or favor,” ani Nartatez.
