“New water” piped-in distribution, sinimulan na ng Maynilad sa Parañaque

MANILA, Philippines — Sinimulan na ng West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) ang New Water  piped-in distribution o ang  pamamahagi ng malinis na inuming tubig na nagmula sa treated used water .

Dalawang barangay sa Parañaque City ang nabiyayaan ng bagong patubig makaraang magkaroon ng Conditional Operational Permit (COP) mula sa Department of Health (DOH) Metro Manila Center for Health Development.

Ang COP ay pinagkakaloob ng DOH makaraang ang bagong linis na tubig ay makapasa sa serye ng pagsusuri na patunay na akma ito sa panuntunan ng  Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW) at World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines tungkol sa potable reuse.

Ang  permit ay balido ng  12  buwan at makaraan nito ay mabibigyan ng  permanent permit oras na makapasa ang Maynilad sa mga kondisyon na itinakda ng COP tungkol sa supply ng bagong patubig sa loob ng naturang period sa ilalim ng masusing pagbabantay ng DOH.

Bago maipalabas ang COP, ang “New Water” ay mayroon ng Certificate of Potability mula sa Pa­rañaque City Health Office.

“The DOH’s issuance of a permit to commence piped-in distribution of New Water is a major milestone for the local water industry, as this is the first time that recycled water will be tapped as an alternative supply source to address water shortages,” pahayag ni Maynilad President at CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.

Ang pag-recycle sa tubig para maging malinis ay dekada nang ginagawa sa ibang bansa tulad ng Singapore, Namibia, at bahagi ng Estados Unidos.

Ang P450-million “New Water Treatment Plant” ng Maynilad ay naglilinis ng tubig na galing sa kanilang Parañaque Water Reclamation Facility at ginagawa itong inuming malinis na tubig.
