Jinggoy, Revilla want to attend Kuya Germs’ wake

MANILA, Philippines – Detained Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon Revilla Jr. asked the Sandiganbayan yesterday to allow them to visit the wake of television host German “Kuya Germs” Moreno.

In separate motions filed yesterday before the anti-graft court’s First Division, Estrada and Revilla sought permission to attend Moreno’s wake at the Mt. Carmel Church in New Manila, Quezon City.

Aside from being senators, the two had been active in the entertainment industry.

Estrada is requesting a three-hour pass to attend Moreno’s wake from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. today.

Revilla asked the Sandiganbayan to grant him a furlough to attend the wake from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Aside from being a mentor in the show business industry, Moreno was the godfather of Revilla and Rep. Lani Mercado on their wedding.

Revilla said he wants to pay his last respects to Moreno, who had visited him in jail a number of times despite the latter’s frail condition.

Estrada and Revilla are detained on plunder charges at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center at Camp Crame in connection with the multimillion-peso pork barrel scam.

The Sandiganbayan had denied their petitions for bail.
