MANILA, Philippines - Police officers under the Anti-Illegal Drug Group (AIDG) confiscated shabu and ingredients used to make the illegal drug, with an estimated street value of P20 million, in Las Piñas City yesterday.
They arrested Jennyfren Saz and Maryrise Butal Dagante during the raid on a house along El Grande Avenue they suspected was used as a drug warehouse.
The AIDG was formally launched yesterday.
In a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ricardo Marquez, the AIDG said its police officers and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) found luggage containing six packs of ephedrine and one pack of shabu.
AIDG spokesman Chief Inspector Roque Merdegia said the Las Piñas raid was connected to a drug sting in Taguig City, wherein they arrested Chiu Chien Chun, a resident of Marina Bay Homes in Parañaque, and his companion and confiscated 20 kilos of shabu and shabu components.
They also seized a Nissan Sentra and a Chevrolet Tahoe.
In another operation on Dec. 12, police officers and PDEA agents arrested Reyniel Diaz Macahidhid in a sting at a mall parking lot in Taguig after he sold a kilo of shabu to an undercover agent.
Nine more kilos of shabu were found in a bag in Macahidhid’s Nissan Sentra (ZBW 557), Merdegia said, adding that the suspect reportedly has links to Chiu’s group.
