MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested two alleged members of a Chinese drug ring who yielded three kilos of shabu worth P9 million in a sting in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City yesterday morning.
Paul Co, 44, a businessman, and Arvin Caray, 38, were nabbed after they sold a kilo of shabu worth P1 million to a police officer who posed as a buyer, Chief Inspector Enrico Figueroa, head of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) anti-illegal drugs special operations task group, said.
Figueroa said Co and Caray yielded two more kilos of shabu when frisked by police.
Police recovered from the suspects three mobile phones and a Suzuki car.
Figueroa said they were checking the text messages to trace the other members of the group.
He said the suspects had been under police surveillance for two weeks prior to their arrest.
Co and Caray are being held at the QCPD detention cell pending the filing of drug trafficking charges against them.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento and National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Superintendent Joel Pagdilao lauded the QCPD for the successful anti-drug operation.
